With the support of Azerconnect Group, organized by ‘Women in Tech Azerbaijan’, the first event in a seminar series titled ‘Diversity, Inclusion, and Sustainability: Learning from Global in the View of COP29’ was successfully held.
Twenty-three companies participated in the first seminar, titled ‘Empowering Individuals for Real Change’. Representatives from Azerconnect Group, Socar Cape LLC, EY Azerbaijan, Procter & Gamble, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) delivered presentations. They shared global insights on diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, detailing successful projects and offering ready-made solutions to support participants in implementing these practices.
Matanat Babayeva, Chief Human Resources Officer at Azerconnect Group, discussed the company's initiatives to create an inclusive work environment and promote gender equality. It was noted that Azerconnect Group is the only local company that has been selected as ‘Top Employer’ by the prestigious "Top Employers Institute" for two consecutive years for applying the best international human resources practices. She highlighted training programs for employees and introduced an innovative program called ‘WE are ALL ONE’, the first of its kind among local companies, dedicated to promoting diversity, equality, inclusion, and belonging, emphasizing that embracing these values not only fosters internal and external success but also provides companies with a strategic advantage.
The primary goal of the initiative, organized in anticipation of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), is to transfer global experience on diversity, inclusion, and sustainability to local companies and to facilitate the exchange of ideas between organizations.
