German internet exchange operator De-Cix said it has reached a peak traffic of 10 Tbps at its facility in Frankfurt.
Accoding to "Telecompaper", De-Cix said it has not been able to identify the cause of the peak, adding that it could have been a combination of the Champions League, the US elections, software upgrades, and the start of Germany's second lockdown.
De-Cix initially forecast a peak of 9 Tbps towards the end of the year, from 8.3 Tbps in February.
Traffic peaks have been recorded not only at the facility in Frankfurt, but also at other De-Cix internet exchanges such as New York and Madrid.
